Aberdeenshire Adult Carer Strategy ConsultationThe Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 will be implemented on the 1st April 2018 and places a number of statutory duties (or responsibilities) on all local authorities to develop and publish a local Carer Strategy. In Aberdeenshire we have decided to prepare separate strategies for adult and young carers. This strategy (or plan) of what we are going to do over the next four years (from 1st April 2018 to 31st March 2022) is for all adult carers. It has been developed through discussions with carers across Aberdeenshire, and other key partners in social work, health and the third sector. We encourage as many people as possible to read our draft Adult Carer Strategy and complete the survey to give your views. You do not have to be a carer to comment on this. We fully encourage those who are supported by a carer and organisations who provide support to carers to share their views. Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2019-2024Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership’s Mental Health Strategy is open for public consultation. The draft strategy sets out the partnership’s mental health and wellbeing priorities over the next 5 years. The strategy will focus on the following areas: (1) Self-management of mental health problems. (2) Improving access to mental health and wellbeing services. (3) Ensuring mental health services are person centred and recovery focused. (4) Improving the physical health and life chances of people living with mental health problems. In developing the draft, people from across Aberdeenshire were invited to contribute to the development of the strategy, through an extensive engagement process. People were asked to talk about what type of services they would like to see in the future and what services were important to them. This work has been key in determining our future mental health and wellbeing priorities. As a next step, we kindly invite you participate in a public consultation exercise via an online survey (see external link below), to give your views on the draft strategy. All AreasSocial Care and HealthEnding Monday 25 February 2019

Aberdeenshire Young Carer StrategyAberdeenshire Young Carer Strategy: We are young carers, who cares for us? 2018 – 2020. The Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 will be implemented on the 1st April 2018 and places a number of statutory duties (or responsibilities) on all local authorities to develop and publish a local Carer Strategy. In Aberdeenshire we have decided to prepare separate strategies for adult and young carers. This strategy (or plan) of what we are going to do over the next two years (from 1st April 2018 to 31st March 2020) is for all young carers up to the age of 18 years old and has been developed through discussions with young carers for their views to reflect the opinions of young carers across Aberdeenshire, and other key partners in social work, education, health and the third sector. There are many young carers in Aberdeenshire and they often find themselves excluded from personal and social opportunities including time in education. This can inhibit their development, ambitions, involvement in hobbies, and potential to achieve. We encourage young carers and as many people as possible to read our draft strategy and complete the survey to give their views. The deadline for response is Friday 9th February 2018. Please follow the links below for the draft Young Carer Strategy and Consultation Survey. Please contact the Carers Strategy Team by email: Carersupport@aberdeenshire.gov.uk or telephone 01467 537178 if you require printed copies or the documents in another format. All AreasCouncil, Education and Learning, Schools, Social Care and HealthEnding Friday 09 February 2018
