APSE (The Association for Public Service Excellence) maintains and develops a
network of local government officers, managers, and councillors from local
authorities across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. APSE is
dedicated to promoting excellence in the delivery of frontline services to local
communities around the UK.

Ian Paterson, an Aberdeenshire Council Waste Orderly in Kintore, achieved a
'Silver' award in the Parks, Grounds & Streets category at the APSE Scotland
Fleet, Waste, and Grounds Seminar. The award was presented to him at the Annual
Prize-giving Dinner on 25 May 2023.

The awards were sponsored by Zero Waste Scotland and recognised Ian's
exceptional contribution over the last ten years to keeping Kintore beautiful.

Ian was nominated by Marion Baikie, Waste Support Leader, who said: "Ian was
recently recognised as one of Kintore's 'Unsung Heroes' for his exceptional
standards and pride in his role and in the town of Kintore. Ian's attitude and
work really makes a difference to so many people. His enthusiasm is infectious
and—by chatting to those he encounters he engages everyone in keeping Kintore
beautiful.”
