Dementia Awareness Week

Staff Wellbeing Event Thursday 1st June 2023 from 11am - 1pm

Woodhill House Café

Have you or someone you know been touched by dementia…if so, we would like to
invite you to come along and share your story with us at a staff wellbeing event
in support of Dementia Awareness Week.

Each year, Dementia Awareness Week (DAW) is held with the aim of raising
awareness of dementia and helping improve the lives of people with dementia,
their families and carers. This year, there will be a particular focus on the
stigma people with dementia continue to experience, with a particular focus on
those receiving a diagnosis earlier in life. As an organisation, we recognise
that we will have some staff who will have a loved one, know someone or may
themselves have a diagnosis of dementia.

Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership are working in conjunction with
our colleagues at Aberdeenshire Council, Alzheimer's Scotland and Quarriers,
coming together to recognise and celebrate those touched by dementia.

There will be lots of information available on the day and both Alzheimer's
Scotland and Quarriers will be on hand to have a chat with people or offer any
advice. Two Carer Practitioners as well as Aberdeenshire Councils Wellbeing
Workplace Advisor, Mitch Robertson, will also be supporting the event.

We want you to see the person behind the diagnosis. Dementia does not define
someone. People with dementia can learn new things, continue with work and
hobbies, and live a full, enjoyable life.

Please help spread the word and we look forward to seeing you on the day…

Dementia is just one thing about a person - it's not everything
