Get your kids out and about in Aberdeenshire this summer

With the schools soon out and the summer holidays about to begin, parents across Aberdeenshire will be looking for ways to keep their kids occupied over the next few months.

That’s why Aberdeenshire Council has created a helpful guide to the fun-packed schedule of summer activities it has running in July and August, many of which are free.

Judo, streetsports and hip-hop sessions, a basketball academy, school of cricket and a canoe camp are among the activities coming to a place near you.

Crafting and Bookbug sessions are also taking place in many libraries and visitors will get the chance to go behind the scenes at the Mintlaw Museum Discovery Centre.

The much-loved body zorbs, climbing wall and bike track will also visit various Aberdeenshire locations over the summer, with drop-in sessions so you can simply turn up and pay for a go.

Brand new this season are the week-long Summer Holiday Camps taking place in Huntly, Fraserburgh, Alford and Ellon throughout the summer.

With optional early start times in the morning and later pick-up times in the afternoon, children can have active fun all day long in a way that works around their parents’ diaries.

Activities may include swimming, the body zorbs and climbing wall, a bike obstacle course, dodgeball, arts and crafts, storytelling and much more. Costs are £27 a day or £125 for the whole week.

The guide to these summer activities gives families the chance to find out what’s on when in their area and it is available on the council’s website.
