Council’s recruitment team increases digital presence

Jobseekers interested in working for Aberdeenshire Council can now get information on job vacancies and careers on a variety of social media channels.

The council's recruitment team now has a presence on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, as well as a dedicated jobs website.

The increased online presence comes at a time when there has been a record number of applications for jobs at the authority, with 6,300 in just June and July.

The council is also working on attracting more young people to work for the organisation and placing itself as an employer of choice in the north-east.

The social media channels will carry information from the council and select information from partners aimed at making finding and applying for jobs easier.

“We have increased the number of young people working for the organisation in recent years, we want to continue to do so,” said Head of Human Resources and Organisational Development, Laura Simpson.

“Prospective candidates are on these platforms and we want to reach out to them to show them we are a local employer of choice, offering a huge variety of jobs in a wide range of locations across the north east.

“We have seen an increase in the number of job applications we receive since the oil and gas downturn and we are also increasing the number of Modern Apprenticeships we offer – so now is a perfect time to expand our presence and encourage people to come and speak to us, apply for our jobs and help maintain a great quality of life in Aberdeenshire.”

The council’s recruitment team is on Twitter @AbshireJobs and Facebook @AberdeenshireJobs. Search LinkedIn for “Aberdeenshire Council”.
