Active Fraserburgh Week back bigger and better in its third year

Fraserburgh is set for an action packed few days as Active Fraserburgh Week gets underway in August, encouraging people to get involved in a new sport or activity.

Now in its third year and the biggest event to date, it will take place from August 14 to 18, offering a range of taster sessions encouraging people to get more active and improve their lifestyle.

There are a varied range of sports in the programme, including favourites such as surfing and football as well as new activities such as Yoga, Karate and Tai Chi, and even an afternoon tea dance with music and refreshments.

More than 100 sessions will be available throughout the week in venues across the town including Fraserburgh Community and Sports Centre, James Ramsay Park and the JIC.

Active Fraserburgh Week is a great way for people to try out an activity to see if it’s suitable for them. Sport and being active is a great way to get out and meet new people too.

Chairman of the Banff and Buchan Area Committee, Michael Roy, said: “This event has been popular in the past and is continuing to increase the range of activities on offer, which is great to see. I would encourage anyone who is interested to take a look and see what appeals to them.

“The support from volunteers, venues, groups and clubs is fantastic and the event could not take place without their commitment, so we genuinely thank them for that.”

Vice chair, Andy Kille, said: “Active Fraserburgh Week is a great way to showcase Fraserburgh and the range of venues and activities it has to offer.

“This is a vibrant town with a diverse range of activities to encourage an active lifestyle, with first class facilities and this event really helps to highlight that.”

Events are open to all ages, with many sessions disabled-friendly or tailored for specific age groups.

You can take part for free and don’t have to have an Active Aberdeenshire membership.

The full programme and updates can be found on the Fraserburgh 2021 Facebook page.
