Huntly Swimming Pool to close for upgrades

Huntly Swimming Pool will be closed for up to 12 weeks from Monday, March 19, to allow for some essential upgrade works.

As part of the works, both swimming pool plant systems will undertake necessary modernisation to ensure they continue to provide appropriate water treatment. The old spa pool, which has not worked for a number of years, will be removed, providing greater plant room space for the facility’s paddling pool.

The building’s heat recovery system is also being replaced. Gym users will be able to work out in a much more temperate environment thanks to the installation of a new air conditioning system; a new ceiling will also be installed to the fitness suite. The changing room floor will be replaced and the communal area will be tilled.

John Harding, Head of Lifelong Learning and Leisure at Aberdeenshire Council, said: “We are delighted these essential works are now taking place. This is a large investment of over £300,000. We know some people will be disappointed at the loss of the old spa pool but it was no longer repairable and its removal will allow for some other essential plant upgrades.

“We are confident these wider improvements will make the swimming pools, gym and changing environments far more comfortable for customers.”

We thank all pool users for their patience whilst these improvements take place. Nearby swimming pools can be found in Turriff, Alford, Banff and Inverurie.

A Frequently Asked Questions sheet has also been designed for regular customers of the swimming pool so they understand what will be improved as a result of the work.
