Could you benefit from the Banff and Buchan Initiatives Fund?

Applications are now being sought for the Banff and Buchan Area Initiatives Fund which can provide up to £10,000 for improvements to towns or volunteering schemes.

The fund of £79,000 has been earmarked to support local groups so that they can meet the needs of their communities as well as allowing them to tap into local talent and resources.

Projects aiming to deliver the following themes can apply for this funding:

• Improving the appearance and maintenance of towns;
• Stronger communities;
• Safer communities;
• Supporting health and active communities;
• Tackling poverty and inequality;
• Transport and connectivity;
• Educational development.

The first round of applications must be submitted by Thursday, May 30.

Cllr Andy Kille, Banff and Buchan Area Committee chair, said: “The Area Initiative Fund makes a real difference to the local community here in Banff and Buchan. I would encourage any constituted group seeking funding to submit an application.”

Committee vice-chair, Cllr Michael Roy, said: “Granting funding to community groups and individuals is a way area committees can make a real difference. I am looking forward to seeing which groups the Banff and Buchan Area Committee can support through this fund.”
