Council leadership team engages with Buchan businesses

At the latest in a series of similar events, senior Aberdeenshire Council members and officers met businesses from Peterhead and the surrounding area at a networking business engagement lunch yesterday. (Thursday, June 6)

Held at Peterhead Port Authority, the event was officially opened by Aberdeenshire’s Deputy Provost, Ron McKail.

The Port Authority’s Quality Advisor, Allison Sherrington, welcomed guests to the Greenhill facility and highlighted some of the milestones it had reached since opening the new premises in June 2018.

Aberdeenshire Council’s Head of Economic Development and Protective Services, Belinda Miller, outlined the main aim of the event, which was to give local business people a chance to speak directly with the Council leadership and share their thoughts and views now and for the future.

Business representatives were then treated to a networking taster lunch, which was a local culinary adventure using the very best of what Buchan has to offer, including honey sesame sausages, bitesize quiches and frittata squares.

During her speech, Ms Miller commented on the positive work being undertaken as part of the Regeneration programme to support the revitalisation of the town centre and endorsed the benefits of partnership working, in order to achieve this.  She welcomed the excellent use and promotion of local food and beverage produce and encouraged guests to use the event as a chance to network.

Ms Miller commented: “I welcomed the opportunity to discuss the work underway to shape Buchan’s future with local businesses.

"The ongoing support of the business and wider community is vital in developing a vibrant and sustainable future for Buchan.”

Following the event, Council Leader James Gifford commented: “It was a beneficial occasion to be able to talk to local businesses about current trading conditions and the drive and enthusiasm that continues to make this such a productive corner of Aberdeenshire.”
