Thank A Teacher Campaign Launched in Scotland

Education Scotland have launched the Thank a Teacher campaign in Scotland to highlight the positive impact teaching staff have in our society.

Education Scotland will be working with the Pearson National Teaching Awards, the organisation behind the awards, to bring the campaign to Scotland and celebrate the amazing work of our teachers.

Gayle Gorman, Education Scotland Chief Executive said: “We wanted to be part of this fantastic campaign to highlight the work inspirational teachers make in classrooms each and every day, and the impact they have on young people’s lives.”

It is free to send a card with a personal message through the Thank a Teacher website and anyone can send a card; from pupils, parents, grandparents or colleagues all have the opportunity to say thank you to a teacher, teaching assistant, headteacher or team.

Gayle Gorman added: “The reason for saying thank you could be for a number of reasons, from helping your child settle in, last year’s class teacher, helping you though a difficult time or for helping you when you were struggling. But it is important that we take time to recognise the hard work of teachers across Scotland and I would encourage people to get involved in this campaign to let teachers know just how much they are appreciated.”

Steve Munby, Chair of the Teaching Awards Trust said: “We are delighted that our Thank a Teacher campaign is now open to Scottish schools; teachers change lives and we need to value, celebrate and thank our amazing teachers every day. Our Thank a Teacher campaign does just that and we look forward to seeing the positive thank you messages going out to Scottish teachers across the country.”
