Consultation takes place on new Kinellar Primary School

A public engagement event will take place tonight (Tuesday, December 15) at 7.00pm to discuss options, timescales and gain feedback from parents on the planned new Kinellar Primary School.

The meeting will take place at the current school and follows agreement to hold a series of engagement events by members of the Garioch Area Committee on November 10.

Officers are considering alternative options for delivery of the new school following recent issues acquiring a site for the new school.

The proposal for the new school will be shaped by feedback from pupils, parents, staff and the wider community and the first event will:

• Provide an up-date on the current situation
• Consider options/timescales for providing a new school
• Give people the opportunity to have their say on the new facilities

Chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Education, Learning and Leisure Committee Councillor Alison Evison said: “The administration really values meaningful engagement with the community. This event will give the whole school community the chance to have their say on the new facilities.

“It builds on all of the work the council is undertaking to improve the school estate and invest in the future of young people across Aberdeenshire.”

Garioch Area Committee Chair Councillor Fergus Hood said: “Members of the area committee agreed that full engagement with the public should take place around a new school for Kinellar so that it meets their needs.

“With a growing school roll I am sure that this first engagement session will be welcome news that work is progressing on the project and that both pupils and the community will be involved along the way.”
