Arrangements for the festive fortnight

As the festive fortnight approaches, Aberdeenshire residents are being made aware of key contact numbers and changes to dates for waste collections during the holiday period. 

Aberdeenshire Council’s contact centre will open as usual from 8am on Thursday, December 24 but will close at 3.30pm. Service points will open as usual from 8.45am on Thursday, December 24, also closing at 3.30pm. The contact centre and service points will re-open at 8am and 8.45am respectively on Tuesday, December 29.

Heading into the new year, the contact centre and service points will open as usual at 8am and 8.45am respectively on Thursday, December 31, and again will close at 3.30pm. They will re-open from 8am and 8.45am respectively on Tuesday, January 5, 2016.

For urgent housing, social care, or environmental health matters outside opening hours, please contact the following numbers:

• Environmental Health: 03456 08 12 07

Arrangements for the collection of household and trade recycling/food waste/refuse will be as follows over the festive fortnight:

• Collections scheduled for Friday, December 25, will now be made on Monday, December 28
• Collections scheduled for Friday, January 1, will now be made on Monday, January 4
• Collections scheduled for Monday, December 28, and Monday, January 4 will be made as usual.

If, for any reason, the council is unable to make a collection on these days, a collection attempt will be made the following day. If this collection is missed, then the collection will be made on the next scheduled date for that material.

All affected properties will receive a postcard with this collection schedule information over the next few days.

All household waste and recycling centres will be closed on December 25  and 26, and will be open as normal on Sunday, December 27. Centres will also be closed on January 1 and 2 and open as normal from Sunday, January 3.
