Still time to apply to Banff and Buchan Initiatives Fund

There’s still time for communities across Banff and Buchan to apply for up to £10,000 of funding for local projects.

A total of £78,500 is available through the Banff and Buchan Area Initiatives Fund for town improvements, volunteering schemes, or other local projects which meet the key aims of the initiative.

Potential schemes could help improve the appearance and maintenance of towns, or promote stronger or safer communities.

Projects that help support healthy and active communities, tackle poverty and inequality, improve transport and connectivity, or have an educational benefit can also be considered.

Chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Banff and Buchan Area Committee, Cllr John Cox, said: “This is a great opportunity for community groups to get their ideas off the ground and make them a reality.

“There is great community spirit across Banff and Buchan and I would encourage all groups who could benefit from this fund to get in touch.”

Committee vice-chair Cllr Brian Topping added: “It’s important that applications are sent to us by the end of May so that funding can be considered, and council officers will be able to provide and support to prepare a proposal.

“The fund offers a real chance to make real improvements in our communities, so I hope we see a good number of approaches. “

The first round of applications should be submitted by Tuesday, May 31. For more details, and an application form, call 01261 813300 or email
