Essential resurfacing work to take place on the A947
Essential resurfacing work starts next weekend (Saturday 9, and Sunday 10, September) on the A947 in Macduff between Myrus Cemetery and Myrus Holiday Park.
The work will be carried out over two consecutive weekends, weather permitting.
Work to remove the existing road surface and to lay an asphalt base layer will be carried out next weekend. The asphalt layer will act as a temporary running surface throughout the following week (w/c Monday, September 11).
The final road surface will be laid and road markings applied on the weekend of Saturday 16 and Sunday 17, September.
Throughout both weekends traffic on the A947 will operate under temporary traffic lights and road users will be escorted through the works at 10mph as part of a convoy for safety reasons using an official site vehicle. Two side roads, Myrus Avenue and Duff Street, will however be closed to protect the workforce and the travelling public.
Road users will still be able to access the cemetery, driving range, sports centre and car park on Duff Street from the north, while access to housing in Myrus Avenue will be via a local diversion.
Access to Myrus Holiday Park should not be affected by the works.

“We appreciate that road closures and work on the road network can cause delays and inconvenience to road users and this work has therefore been scheduled for weekends to minimise the impact on the business community and those travelling to and from work.
“We ask the public to bear with us while we carry out these repairs, adhere to temporary speed restrictions and follow road works and diversion signing for the safety of all road users.”
