Minor Injury Unit Review: Public Events

A review of Minor Injury Units (MIUs) in Aberdeenshire, which is currently underway, is moving into the next phase with a series of public events.

As announced in December 2017, the Aberdeenshire Health & Social Care Partnership (AHSCP) is undertaking a review of the 9 MIUs that currently operate in Aberdeenshire. The review is being conducted to ensure that everybody has access to appropriate care that meets their needs.

A series of public events will take place throughout March in each town, which currently has a MIU. The sessions will be informal and have been organised to allow members of the public to ask questions directly as well as allowing officers to collate feedback.

Feedback from the public will be used, along with data on usage, to inform a report which will be presented to the Integration Joint Board to consider and agree the next phase of the review.

Cllr Anne Stirling, Chair of the IJB, said: “I urge everyone with an interest in the minor injury unit in their area to go along to the sessions. We are hoping to be able to get as much feedback from members of the public as possible so that we can ensure that this review is as thorough as possible.

“It will also be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the MIUs in general as officers will be on hand to answer all our queries.”

Dr. Lynda Lynch, Vice Chair of the IJB, said: “The team that is running the review have ensured that the locations and timings of all the events are as accessible as possible, with most of the sessions running until 7.00pm. This should allow as many people as possible to attend and give us their feedback.”
