Year of Young People celebrations continue with Deeside Youth Display

Young people from across Deeside are to have the chance to put their talents on show at a Deeside Youth Display event which is taking place as part of Aberdeenshire Council’s Year of Young People #YOYP2018 events programme.

The event will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Tuesday 4 September at Aboyne Community Centre Canteen and Theatre. It’s open to all, it’s free and it’s an informal opportunity for some of the talented young people from across the Deeside area to show off what they’ve been working on.

As well as performances by singers, dancers and pipers, the Banchory Skatepark Crew will be putting on a film and there will be art displays, creative writing workshops, craft stalls and a chance to meet a local youth group.

The event has been organised by young people themselves, from the YOYP ambassadors group, and they are very excited to highlight the vast potential of Deeside’s Young People.

Tanya Fletcher who is one of five YOYP Ambassadors for the Aboyne and Banchory Area helping to organise the event explained: “We can’t wait to see it all come together. There’s no need for tickets so please just come along – we’re really keen to welcome people from all parts of the community far and wide as it’s just a really friendly get together.”

Councillor Gillian Owen, Chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Education and Children’s Services Committee commented: “This is one of a series of signature #YOYP18 events we’ve had taking place across Aberdeenshire throughout the year. I’m so pleased for all of the young people involved who’ve taken the time to put this together and benefit other members of the community. Well done, folks.”
