Fitness classes to celebrate International Day of Older Persons

There are some new sessions specifically for older people taking place at Turriff Sports Centre and Swimming Pool next week to mark the International Day of Older Persons.

Activities include walking netball, ‘Active for Life’ circuits, badminton, table tennis, pickleball, kurling (indoor curling), boccia and aqua aerobics.

The centre is holding an open day from 10am on Saturday, September 29, there will be ‘come and try sessions’ of badminton, table tennis, short tennis, pickleball, kurling (indoor curling) and Boccia. A gentle aqua aerobics class is available Turriff Swimming Pool.

Teas, coffees and cakes will be available in the foyer and there will be board games and jigsaws to test the mind. 

The walking netball sessions start at 10am on Wednesday, October 3 and are open to anyone who has enjoyed the game in the past who would now like to rediscover the sport. The Active for Life Circuits began at 3pm on Thursday, October 4. These classes are aimed at those aged 50 and above although anyone is welcome to try the circuits-based event, aimed at raising heart rate, improving strength, balance and overall fitness.
