Parents and carers invited to have their say on how best to engage them in children's learning
Parents and carers across Aberdeenshire are being invited to take part in a consultation on Aberdeenshire Council’s draft Parental Involvement and Engagement Strategy 2018-2021. The aim is to improve the quality and the extent of parent and carers’ involvement in their child’s learning, and the draft strategy recognises the important role parents and carers, including grandparents and wider family networks play in their child’s education.
The strategy has been informed by Scotland’s national action plan on parental involvement, parental engagement, family learning and learning at home 2018-2021, the findings of the Aberdeenshire Big Conversation 2017 and Aberdeenshire Council priorities 2017-2022 which direct the work of Education and Children’s Services.
The summary of findings from this consultation along with recommendations will be reported back to Education and Children’s Services Committee for consideration on 7 February 2019.
How to take part
You can take part by attending one of the six open consultation events and nine events which have a focus on additional support needs.
In addition, all parents are encouraged to participate via an online survey available at https://bit.ly/2NrP0bu and/or at Parent Council meetings as appropriate.
Consultation opportunities for minority group parents will be linked to existing meetings/community events. Interpreters will be present as required.
