A 'Theatre of Remembrance' at Mackie Academy this week

Using original archived letters, diaries and official communications, senior students in three secondary schools across Scotland including Mackie Academy have been are working with two theatre education professionals to create dramatic performances about the impact of the WW1 in their local area.

The Scottish Council on Archives received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to undertake this innovative theatre education project in three communities in Aberdeenshire and East Dunbartonshire. The project is being delivered in partnership with the Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Archives and East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture Archives.

The young people's performances will explore the experiences of poets, fisherwomen, nurses, soldiers, families and conscientious objectors. Mackie Academy students' show is due to take place this Friday following the 100-year commemoration of the Armistice.

Join us to see local stories of WWI brought to life.
