Live Life Aberdeenshire website wins digital award

Live Life Aberdeenshire’s innovative and engaging website has won a national digital award.

The City of Edinburgh Council’s Edge Conference is celebrating ten years of innovation and creativity in library and information services at their annual conference on Friday, March 1.

Edge Awards are presented annually to commend the best of library work nationally in physical, social and digital categories. The Live Life Aberdeenshire website has been nominated in the digital category.

Cllr Anne Stirling, Aberdeenshire Council’s Communities Committee chair, said: “This award is a great achievement for Live Life Aberdeenshire staff and reflects a forward-thinking approach to information and service provision for our customers.

“Live Life Aberdeenshire’s website is attractive and easy to use – as befits an innovative and modern organisation. This digital platform enables our culture and sport partners to provide current news and information about the events, activities and everyday service throughout Aberdeenshire - this is a well-deserved award.”

The council’s ICT Applications Solutions team worked closely with the Live Life Aberdeenshire team to design and deliver the website in a very short timeframe.

The Applications Solutions team trained the Live Life Aberdeenshire team on how to update the website and advised on best practice for user-friendly website content and making the site as accessible as possible; this ensures the website not only looks good but is inclusive for all those using the website.

Aberdeenshire Council’s Culture and Sports Sub-Committee chair, David Cook, added: “Given that the Live Life Aberdeenshire website has recently been launched this is a fantastic achievement to already receive national recognition in being digitally innovative.

“We increasingly live in a digital world so having all the information customers need displayed in a user-friendly and visually appealing way is vitally important because the website is our virtual first point of contact. I would like to congratulate the staff at Live Life Aberdeenshire and at Aberdeenshire Council who contributed to this fantastic achievement.”

The Live Life Aberdeenshire website (https://livelifeaberdeenshire.org.uk) is a shop window to a range of services across culture, sport and physical activity, enabling people to find out what’s happening in their community and when. An innovative Live Chat and Chat Bot feature provides an around the clock enquiry service for website visitors.
