Positive response to biker safety survey

Robert Gordon University (RGU) and Road Safety North East Scotland (RSNES) are thanking north east bikers who recently completed a survey about local motorcycle road safety initiatives. The survey was the first stage of research which is considering the effectiveness of motorcycle safety campaigns, as well as examining bikers’ attitudes and views on road safety.

The online survey, which closed earlier this week, attracted 449 responses from north east bikers, with a wide range of comments and information supplied.

Caroline Hood, Research Assistant at RGU, said:

"We’re delighted with the level of response and would like to thank the bikers who responded to our request for information. Work has already commenced in reviewing the information and in the months ahead, we will be contacting respondents who offered to answer further questions as part of our wider research.

Ewan Wallace, Chair of RSNES and Head of Transportation at Aberdeenshire Council, said:

"The positive response to the survey shows the level of interest in motorcycle safety among north east bikers. A significant amount of information has been provided which encompasses a wide range of views and opinions.  We are especially grateful to RGU for their support with this study and look forward to our partnership work developing to advance motorcycle safety across North East Scotland.

Further updates will be provided as the study continues during the remainder of 2019.
