Nominations sought for Portlethen and District Community Council

Nominations are being sought to fill 15 vacancies on Portlethen & District Community Council.

Forms are available from Portlethen Library, Bruntland Road; McColl’s, 1 Rowanbank Court, Cookston Road; McColl’s, The Green; The Paddock Bar, The Green; Co-op Lethen Fields, 1 Hillside Road; The Leathen Arms, Cookston Road; and The Neuk, 2 Craigmarn Road, Old Portlethen.

They are also available from the Kincardine & Mearns Area Office, Viewmount Reception, Arduthie Road, Stonehaven AB39 2DQ.

The forms must be returned by 4pm, Tuesday, 3 September, and an election will take place on 10 September from 6pm to 8pm in The Porty Cabin, Portlethen, if nominees outnumber the number of vacancies.

Returning officer and acting Kincardine and Mearns Area Manager Bruce Stewart said: “Community councils play a key role in holding local authorities and other public bodies to account. They can be the voice of the community and act as a sounding board.

“We are hopeful that residents will come forward to help make the Portlethen district an even better place to live.”

The community council’s ordinary meeting is due to take place on Tuesday, 24 September, at Portlethen Academy, Bruntland Road, starting at 7pm.
