Online survey seeks public opinion on link between Kintore and Blackburn

After the successful completion of the Inverurie to Kintore shared-use path, Aberdeenshire Council is now looking to extend this link towards Aberdeen City by connecting Kintore and Blackburn.

The Inverurie to Kintore path has been widely used, with figures showing an average of 60 trips per day. The existing shared-use path into Blackburn has also been met with popularity, with an average of 78 trips per day.

Aberdeenshire Council is asking for feedback from the public on two proposed routes for a shared-use cycle and pedestrian link between Kintore and Blackburn.

The proposed routes in the survey offer a great potential to increase these figures by providing a recognised link towards Aberdeen City.

The survey opened today (March 3) and is available via https://tinyurl.com/vnhtueu.  Paper copies are also available from Kintore Library, Kemnay Academy, the Crafty Café (Kintore), and Kinellar Hall (Blackburn). The survey closes on Sunday, March 29.

Ewan Wallace, Head of Transportation at Aberdeenshire Council, said: “As the public become increasingly interested in sustainable commuting options, we feel it is important to offer safe and efficient travel routes for those choosing to walk or cycle.

“We would encourage the public to provide feedback on these proposed routes to help us deliver an effective network of shared-use paths.”

Aberdeen City Council is also proposing to look at connecting route options that will link Blackburn to the city centre.
