Re-opening of Cambus O May Bridge delayed due to current Covid 19 restrictions

Works to complete the repair of the Cambus O May suspension footbridge have been put on hold until the current Covid 19 restrictions in Scotland are eased.

Aberdeenshire Council has taken the decision to close the site in the interests of Health and Safety following the Scottish Government’s latest advice to stay at home and avoid all unnecessary travel.

It is hoped that an easing in the current Covid-19 restrictions will enable the contractor to return to site and complete the remaining minor adjustments before the bridge can be returned to use.

There has been considerable interest and anticipation in the reopening of the bridge, which was closed indefinitely in January 2016 after being left badly damaged and severely twisted by water-borne debris during Storm Frank in late December 2015.

An announcement will be made after the repairs have been completed and the bridge fully assessed.

Aberdeenshire Council wishes to thank members of the public for their patience at this time.
