Aberdeenshire Council celebrates Volunteers Week

This week we’re celebrating Volunteers Week and will be sharing resources on Facebook and Twitter to support volunteers in Aberdeenshire and recognise the vital roles they play in our communities.

Paying tribute to the region's volunteers, Provost of Aberdeenshire, Cllr Bill Howatson, said: “Despite all the challenges the Covid pandemic posed, volunteers have nonetheless remained integral to our communities and have supported the most vulnerable and those most in need across Aberdeenshire through these tough times.

“You managed to adapt to new ways of supporting our communities and formed new partnerships to come together in a coordinated approach to ensure support and assistance was given where it was needed most.

“I would also like to recognise and thank the volunteers who usually volunteer but were unable to as a result of the pandemic. We look forward to having you return to your volunteering roles in the fullness of time.

“I am endlessly grateful for all the support you have provided to our communities across Aberdeenshire. It is an absolute pleasure to honour your achievements this week. Thank you again for all your hard work.”
