Window-dressing competition winners chosen to celebrate arrival of Tour of Britain

Winners have been chosen in a Tour of Britain window-dressing competition.

To celebrate the forthcoming arrival of the Tour in the North-east this Sunday (Sept 12), Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City Councils encouraged businesses to dress their windows with a cycling design or theme.

There was particularly strong support for the competition in the Kincardine and Mearns, Marr and Garioch areas of Aberdeenshire in which the cyclists will pass through.

After much contemplation and discussion by the Shire judging panel, the winners were as follows:

Kincardine and Mearns – The Spectacle Company, Stonehaven
Marr – Butterworth Gallery, Ballogie, Aboyne
Garioch – The Flooring Lodge, Skene, Westhill
Best Overall – E. Giulianotti, Stonehaven

Each of these businesses will receive a prize to the value of £1,000 to spend on promotional advertising of their choice within the North-east.

The prize fund has been provided through the Paths for All ‘Smarter Choices Smarter Places’ programme which supports sustainable travel.

Gary Hughes, Business Gateway Manager at Aberdeenshire Council, said: “Our thanks go to all those businesses which made the effort to bedeck their windows with colourful displays in celebration of the Tour of Britain coming to the region. We are sure your customers and visitors to the town will all enjoy viewing your creations and we hope all our winners will reap the benefits of the free advertising their businesses will now enjoy.”
