Household waste collections
• Additional trips to household recycling centres are currently permitted for those with vans/trailers where the 24-visit limit has already been used
• Customers must still call the contact centre on 03456 081208 or email wasteadminsupportinverurie@aberdeenshire.gov.uk directly with the request so that additional bookings can be added
• Additional food waste bags containing spoiled food from fridges and freezers due to loss of power should not be placed next to the food caddy, as this will potentially attract vermin
• Householders should fill their food waste caddies – remembering to remove ALL packaging – and hold back any additional food waste for the next week as food caddies are uplifted on both general waste and recycling weeks. If this is not possible, additional waste can be placed in the general waste bin
Compensation arrangements
SSEN is making arrangements to compensate customers affected by power loss as a result of the storms. Payments will be made by cheque as soon as is reasonably practical and this will happen automatically. Customers do not need to call to arrange it.
All reasonable accommodation and food costs incurred will also be reimbursed, and receipts should be kept.
Further details on arrangements are available at Storm Arwen Red Alert (ssen.co.uk)
