Green Canopy tree planting ceremony commemorates The Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Hundreds of trees have been planted at Fordyce Primary School to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

Vice Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire Patricia Seligman was a special guest who oversaw the planting of trees at the Green Canopy ceremony, a series of events marking the latest milestone of The Queen’s reign, which began in 1952.

Mrs Seligman was joined by head teacher Lesley Mair and pupils during the tree planting ceremony on Friday, December 17.

Ms Mair said: “It was fantastic to welcome Her Majesty’s Vice Lord Lieutenant for Banffshire Patricia Seligman to our school. The children were really excited about this special event.

“The trees will not only act as a symbol of Her Majesty The Queen’s enduring reign but they will also be useful for outdoor learning and help the environment.”

There are several Green Canopy three planting ceremonies taking place at schools across Aberdeenshire to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The event will be officially commemorated on Saturday, June 4, 2022.
