Storm Malik - council services

6:30pm update:

We are watching Storm Corrie closely and any assumptions in here may change overnight as a result of the impact of the incoming weather front.

An assistance phone line was stood up earlier today. It Is there if you need advice or support or if you are isolating - 0808 196 3384. It will open 8:45am to 5pm on Monday.

There will be no blanket school closures tomorrow. Each headteacher will go through the usual process tomorrow morning that they would in any weather event and will advise parents of any closures on the website and through group text channels.https://online.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/Apps/schools-closures/ 

We are preparing to make food available tomorrow for those people who might need extra support and remain off power. Detail of the locations and times will be shared tomorrow am (Monday). This will be based on the impact of Storm Corrie overnight. 

If you need access to a hot shower or phone charging etc, Live life Aberdeenshire facilities will be open again tomorrow from 9am. For clarity, some open earlier than 9am but the welfare elements will be available from 9.

If you can’t use private water because of the power outage you are advised to source bottled water. But if you can’t please contact the assistance line on 0808 196 3384 for advice or support.

The SSEN website will be updated with the location of food trucks for tomorrow (Monday). It is likely that they will be in similar locations to today. You can claim back any hotel accommodation or food – please keep any receipts. 

The AMBER warning for Storm Corrie is still in place for today and is expected to hit parts of Aberdeenshire this evening (from 5pm onwards). It is predicted to hit Aberdeenshire around 9pm onwards. Our roads team are out pre-treating conditions in advance of Storm Corrie with an eye to possible low temperatures and wintery showers.

If you need food - Aboyne, Alford, Banchory, Inverurie and Turriff Academy canteens are serving food from 1pm to 5pm. *in Banchory they are serving from the Primary school across the road.
