Consultation launched into Inverurie and Kintore and District community council boundary proposals

Aberdeenshire Council has launched a consultation on the proposed boundary change between Inverurie and Kintore and District Community Councils.

The survey will be live until March 30th to provide adequate time for all interested parties to submit their views and for both community councils to consider any additional information they wish to add to the consultation.

During a recent review of the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils a request was made by Inverurie Community Council to alter the boundary between Inverurie and Kintore and District community councils.

The request from Inverurie seeks the transfer of an area of land to its area which currently falls within the area covered by Kintore and District Community Council.

This area of land includes Thainstone Agricultural Centre, Thainstone Industrial Estate, the old paper mill site and the land in between these and Port Elphinstone.

Inverurie Community Council has also proposed the transfer of an area of land within its boundary around Balbithan to Kintore and District Community Council which would mean that residents in these areas would be represented by this community council should the change be agreed.

The consultation asks people to consider the proposals and indicate if they are supportive, but also to provide any comments or identify issues which they feel may be created by the proposed change.

Once the consultation has been completed, the responses will be considered by Aberdeenshire Council’s Garioch Area Committee which will then take a decision on whether the boundary change should be accepted.
