Meldrum Academy Joins Global Partnership

Meldrum Academy in Aberdeenshire has become the first Scottish secondary school to join the innovative global partnership, New Pedagogies for Deep Learning. The organization’s purpose is to foster deep learning so that all learners contribute to the common good, address global challenges and flourish in a complex world.

The school’s Deputy Head Teacher, Lorraine Finnie is pleased to introduce this in the school. She said: “We are delighted to become a member of this global partnership.  This will allow us as a school, to work with partners nationally and internationally to transform pedagogies and develop strategies that will facilitate deep learning.  In turn, this will support positive outcomes for all of our learners.”

In Deep Learning, students develop global competencies such as character, citizenship, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication so they can contribute to the common good, address global challenges and flourish in a complex world.  New Pedagogies for Deep Learning is active in 18 countries world-wide and supports more than five thousand schools with implementation and capacity building.  “We are thrilled to see Meldrum Academy join this knowledge building partnership. They will quickly witness the impact deep learning has on learning and engagement and those students will be unstoppable,” says Joanne Quinn, a Director of New Pedagogies for Deep Learning.
