Sports hall will be spick and span after upgrade closure

The three-court sports hall at Turriff Sports Centre is to close for two weeks from the start of next month to allow for flooring upgrades to make it spick and span again.

The hall, which is currently used by local groups for a variety of sports including badminton, table tennis and judo, will be closed from Monday, August 1 until Monday, August 15 so maintenance to the floor, including a full varnish and relining, can be carried out.

Head of Lifelong Learning and Leisure, John Harding, said: “The hall has been used by thousands of people since it was laid in 1995 and we want to bring it back up to tip-top condition again.

“The council would like to apologise for any inconvenience the closure might cause during these two weeks but we would like to reassure the people who use the sports centre that neither the fitness room nor the all-weather pitches will be affected by the closure.

“There are also alternative facilities nearby, including Fraserburgh Community and Sports Centre and the MACBI Community Hub in MIntlaw.

“I would like to thank users for their patience while we carry out this upgrade.”

Posters will be displayed in the sports centre to inform customers and Aberdeenshire Council’s website will be updated to reflect the changes in the current activity programme.
