Huntly CLD team to offer training for volunteer tutors

A course for volunteers interested in a rewarding opportunity to become an adult literacy tutor is to begin in Huntly next month.

Aberdeenshire Council’s Community, Learning & Development (CLD) team based at the Linden Centre in the town are looking for enthusiastic individuals to work with adults from the surrounding area to help them increase their literacy, numeracy or computing skills.

No previous teaching or tutoring experience is necessary as training will be provided although volunteers are expected to be confident in their own literacy or numeracy skills.

An eight-week Supporting Adults Literacies Learning course will begin at the Linden Centre on Thursday, February 9 from 1.30-4pm.

The course will raise awareness of adult learning, some of the common barriers to learning, the roles of an adult learning tutor and where to look for further resources, information and support.

For further information or an informal chat contact Avril Morrison or Lada Copic from the CLD team on (01466) 792502.
