Have your say: Working together for better mental health and wellbeing

The Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership (AHSCP) has begun work on the first stage of a new Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy.

The strategy, once published, will determine the future mental health and wellbeing priorities of the partnership. To ensure that the basis of the future strategy is well rooted in lived experience we will be undertaking a series of public drop in sessions.

The aim of the sessions is to gather as many experiences of living with mental health challenges, caring for someone with mental health challenges as well as positive experiences that have helped people overcome those challenges.

Chair of the Integration Joint Board, Dr Lynda Lynch, said: "Good mental health is important for us all, and I would encourage people to come along to one of our sessions and let us know what keeps them well in their communities and to discuss what we can work on together to improve mental wellbeing."

Vice Chair, Cllr Anne Stirling, said: “It is so important to have real-life experiences forming the basis of our future priorities, so we’re keen to hear from anyone who is willing to share, by joining us at one of our sessions.

“We all have a role in breaking down the stigma and taboos around mental health and wellbeing. Over half of us will experience some form of mental health challenge in our lifetimes and we need to be upfront and honest about the effect it can have on our wellbeing.”
