A957 Stonehaven works update

As work continues to deliver the Stonehaven Flood Protection Scheme, the A957 from Invercarron Cottage to Green Den remains under traffic signal control with a single-lane restriction in place.

This restriction will continue while Aberdeenshire Council monitors the road subsidence which began in July and works to develop a permanent solution.

Until this is in place, the road cannot be safely opened to two-way traffic.

The A957 was initially closed following the discovery of cracks in the northbound carriageway surface, however remedial works quickly followed and the road was re-opened under temporary traffic signals using the southbound carriageway. Pedestrians can safely cross the road using the crossing.

Meanwhile, works at the foot of the slope as part of the Stonehaven Flood Protection Scheme are progressing well and remain on target to be completed by Spring 2020.

Aberdeenshire Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their continued support during this time.
