Steering group chair sought for Climate Ready Aberdeenshire

Climate Ready Aberdeenshire (CRA) is seeking applications for the position of steering group Chair to lead Aberdeenshire’s climate change adaptation strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity to play an active role in the development of the CRA strategy and to work with like-minded professionals from across the North-east to make a positive impact to the region, its communities and its environment.

The 10-year strategy will bring together the views and expertise of a range of diverse stakeholders from communities, public, private and third sector organisations, to set out how we can work collaboratively to meet the challenges of a changing climate within Aberdeenshire.

The position of Chair will be for approximately 3 years (2020 – 2023) and is an unpaid volunteer position. Becoming a member of the steering group, the Chair will have an overview of the CRA strategy. Their role is to provide high level leadership to the group and commitment to the strategy to enable the group to meet its goals, but not to direct what these goals should be.

It requires an estimated commitment of approximately 10 hours per month including steering group meetings, with scope to increase this if required. Meetings will either be online or at various locations throughout Aberdeenshire, so it is essential that the Chair is able to travel throughout Aberdeenshire.

Applicants are invited to submit a paper of no more than one side of A4 to promote their candidacy to Climate Ready Aberdeenshire Secretariat, Tara Murray, at tara.murray@aberdeenshire.gov.uk by Friday, 24 July 2020. The preferred candidate will be chosen by the current steering group members and notified by the Secretariat within 10 working days of the application deadline.
