Aberdeenshire Council to host webinars to support community facilities and village halls

Aberdeenshire Council is to host two webinars to help North east groups navigate the requirements to reopening community facilities and village halls as a result of coronavirus.

There has been considerable confusion around which activities are permitted under each phase of the Roadmap, with no specific guidance for community facilities.

As a result, many organisations are now urgently seeking answers and support as they work towards re-opening their popular facilities which host an array of social and leisure activities.

Reid Hutchison, Community Economic Development Co-ordinator with Aberdeenshire Council, explained: “There will be various regulatory elements for these community groups to navigate along with emerging good practice including the likes of detailed risk assessments which they will have to undertake.

“Aberdeenshire Council is taking a leadership role to support our community groups during this stressful time. We hope that in setting up these webinars and signposting to support within the council and our Third Sector support partners, that this will provide confidence and advice to community groups seeking to re-open.”

The first webinar will take place on Friday, August 21 from 2-3pm followed by an evening session on Thursday, August 27 from 5.30-7pm.

There will be speakers on hand from Aberdeenshire community-managed facilities, Aberdeenshire Protective Services, Live Life Aberdeenshire Facilities and Economic Development colleagues.

Afterwards there will be a question and answer session where participants will get the opportunity through live chat to put questions to the panel.
