Young people invited to stand for national youth parliament

Young people in Aberdeenshire are being encouraged to stand for election to the Scottish Youth Parliament.

The Scottish Youth Parliament is the democratically elected voice of the nation’s young people.

Elections are held every two years, and those aged between 14 and 25 are being invited to stand to become a Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament.

Young people can stand for the following seven seats in four Aberdeenshire constituencies:

Aberdeenshire East – 2 seats

Aberdeenshire West – 2 seats

Angus North and Mearns – 1 seat

Banffshire and Buchan Coast – 2 seats

Anyone considering standing should complete an expression of interest form. To complete it please visit https://elections.syp.org.uk/elections/7/ Those who fill in the form will be contacted by Aberdeenshire Council and the Scottish Youth Parliament who will provide more information and answer any questions.

The deadline for applying to stand is 5pm on Wednesday, June 30.
