Latest resilience and service information – Storm Arwen/Storm Barra

As the recovery from Storm Arwen continues, council services and partner organisations are ready to respond to any impacts caused by Storm Barra. Two weather warnings and a flood alert are currently in place:

Yellow warning for snow: Heavy snow is expected across northern parts of Britain, including inland areas of Aberdeenshire from around 3pm onwards. Travel disruption is likely, particularly on higher routes. The warning runs until midnight tonight (Tue).

Yellow warning for wind: High winds are expected across much of the UK, particularly affecting coastal areas, including Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire from about 6pm onwards. Gusts could reach up to 70mph and the warning runs until midnight tonight (Tue).

Flood alert for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire: SEPA has issued a flood alert for potential coastal, river and surface flooding in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire over the course of today and into tomorrow.

Further detail on the incoming weather warnings and flood warnings can be found on the Met Office website and SEPA websites.

It has been an incredibly difficult time for everybody over the past week or so, and everybody’s resilience has been tested. If the storm hits your community hard, please continue to look after each other.

Resilience partners are already meeting to see what can be done in advance of this new weather front and working together when it arrives. The Aberdeenshire assistance line can provide help for anyone who needs advice on 0808 196 3384 8.45am-5pm.
