Child neglect campaign helps raise awareness of supports available in Aberdeenshire

Child Protection Committee (CPC) Scotland is currently running a child neglect campaign, 'Under pressure: Understanding child neglect'.

The campaign consolidates the publication of the CPCScotland Child Neglect in Scotland: Understanding Causes and Supporting Families report in late 2021. It recognises the significant pressures being faced by families during these difficult times and urges parents who are struggling not to wait for things to get worse but to ask for help and support if they’re finding it hard to care for their kids.

You can find out more about the campaign on CPCScotland's website: Under Pressure - Child Protection Scotland

This also gives us a chance to highlight the work ongoing in Aberdeenshire to address child neglect. A multi-agency Neglect Toolkit has been put together to help colleagues across health, police, schools, the voluntary sector and others to ensure families get the support they need.

A Neglect Subgroup of Aberdeenshire's Child Protection Committee has pulled this together, drawing on the expertise of colleagues from all partner agencies. It's important for the public to understand #itsoktoask if you have a worry about child neglect, you're struggling yourself or you can see someone else who is struggling. The council and partners' approach to supporting families is rooted in kindness, trauma-informed and all about working together to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people.
