Details Farmstead still in use. Originally two farmsteads, Burn-side to the north and Meikle Forter by the ruins of the castle. On the 1st edition OS map Burn-side is shown as five buildings, two of which are attached to a rectangular enclosure at the east. One of these has a possible horsemill attached to its western front. To the south, Meikle Forter is shown as seven buildings, one of which at the north of the group has a possible horsemill attached to the east front. By the 2nd edition OS map two of the buildings from Burn-side, including that with the possible horsemill, have been removed and the central surviving building has been extended. There is an additional building shown between the two farmsteads and Meikle Forter is now shown as consisting of three buildings, with a large F-shaped range to the north. The building with the horsemill has also been removed. The building to the south-west has an attached triangular enclosure. The 2006 map shows that the building to the south-east at Meikle Forter and the building attached to the enclosure at the east at Burn-side have been removed. The F-shaped range has been altered or partially replaced and the building between the two formerly separate farmsteads, and the remaining buildings of Burn-side have all been extended.
