Details Parish church and graveyard, still in ecclesiastical use. The church is probably originally 12th century and was dedicated to St Lawrence. The apse was replaced by the Duncan Mausoleum, built in 1789 by Robert Myle, which is now converted into the vestry. The church was partially rebuilt in 1846 and was renovated in 1892 by Thomas Saunders Robertson, but the earlier Romanesque core remains visible. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map as a rectangular church with a small addition on the east end, adjoining a rectangular vault. On the 2nd edition OS map, there is a second addition on the west end of the south elevation. It is constructed from coursed squared rubble, with random rubble at the west gable, which has a single buttress. There are pointed windows and door to the south elevation, with chamfered jambs, moulded heads and blocked springing joints. The addition shown on the 2nd edition OS map to the south elevation is a gabled porch. At the apex of the east gable is an ashlar birdcage bellcote that was added in the 1892 renovations. It has a bell, a ball finialled pyramidal roof and a decorative weathercock. There is a chimney rising through the eaves of the north elevation, becoming a square corniced stack. The former mausoleum is on the east gable end, and is neoclassical in style. It is constructed from diagonally droved ashlar with polished panels and a channelled ashlar domical roof. There is an inscribed corniced door lintel surmounted by a fanlight to the south elevation, and blank round-headed panels to the north and east. The interior of the church his unpainted timber-boarded walls and embrasures, with a continuous timber hoodmould over the windows, a timber dentilled cornice and a compartmentalised boarded ceiling. Also inside the church is a window on the north elevation with deeply splayed reveals, which is possibly Norman. There is a hexagonal, pilastered and panelled timber pulpit on a plinth and a stone columnar font. There are also various memorials and plaques within the church, including a brass panel commemorating the 1892 renovations, framed texts from the psalms and the Lord's Prayer on plaques made by Stalker and Body of Dundee in 1892, a stained glass memorial window to the Hunter family of Easter Keith from 1897, a wrought iron memorial to John Robert Lester who was the minister in 1953-77 and a war memorial on the north wall. The war memorial plaque commemorates those from the parish who died in the First World War. A full transcription of the memorial is held in the AAS Digital Archive. The burial enclosure adjacent to the former mausoleum contains the tombs of the Duncan family, amongst others. It is enclosed by a low coped wall with wrought iron railings. Within the rest of the graveyard there are 18th, 19th and 20th century tombstones. The graveyard is enclosed by a rubble wall approximately 2 metres (6.6 feet) high, and it is partly drystone, and is snecked to the south. There are two ashlar gatepiers to the east with mannered caps.
