Details Site of a quarry, depicted from the 1st edition OS map. The quarry is shown as a small quarry pit with single crane and building to the east on the 1st edition OS map. By the 2nd edition OS map, the quarry expanded considerably, with multiple pits shown, at least 4 cranes, and new group of buildings added in the centre of the site. it also has a railway spur and siding from the Newtyle railway. By the 3rd edition OS map of circa 1940s, the quarry is shown as disused. The small building at the east of the site appears to survive today, named as 'Quarry Cottage'. According to the OS Name Book (vol 67), the quarry was a whinstone quarry 'worked by Mr Caird and property of Colonel Laird'.
