North lodge, entrance gateway and gatepiers to Glamis Castle (NO34NE0001), also known as the Gladiator Gate, dating from the late 17th century. Re-erected on this site in the late 18th century. Square-section ashlar gatepiers with gladiator sculptures and castellated Tudor screen walls, with hoodmoulds and stone mullions. The west road side elevation has tall piers with a pilastered front, cornice and large carved orb finials, lower flanking bays with gladiators. Crenellated screen walls with a pedestrian gateway and two bipartite windows with diamond-pattern glazing. The north and south screen walls are mirrored to each other. The east elevation has the lower piers to the centre with crouching lions, a pedestrian gateway and a rubble lodge with two windows, a boarded timber door and a slated piended roof. Decorative wrought-iron gates on the pedestrian and main entrance gates. The two other entrance gates for the castle, the De'il Main Gate (NO34NE0087) and Outer Kirk Gate (NO34NE0059), were also relocated in 1774 when the court walls close to the castle were demolished.
