Tower, possibly built in the 14th or 15th century and raised and crenellated probably in the late 18th century (circa 1774). Circular rubble structure, approximately 14ft (4.3 metres) high, roofless, with a crenellated parapet and a row of oval openings with ashlar margins close to the top. A doorway with chamfered arrises and possibly evidence of a relieving arch to the northeast with a blinded window to the east. This tower, along with the East Tower (NO34NE0089), formed part of the former court wall that was removed when the designed landscape was extensively remodelled in 1774. The parapet detail is strikingly similar to that added to the Main Gate (NO34NE0087) in 1774. It is shown on the OS 1st edition map as a circular feature, but not named. On the OS 2nd edition map it is depicted as 'West Tower (Ruin)'.
