Details Statue of King Charles I, by Arnold Quellin 1686, re-erected in 1890 and restored in 1988. Life size lead statue of King Charles I in a suit of armour. Re-erected on rusticated ashlar pedestal. This statue, along with that of King James VI (NO34NE0108), flank the north end of the main driveway located in the designed landscape (NO34NE0088) of Glamis Castle (NO34NE0001). An agreement was drawn up on 23rd December, 1685, between Patrick, the 1st Earl of Strathmore and the 3rd Earl of Kinghorne, and Arnold Quellin, to provide four lead statues of Stuart kings on Portland stone plinths, and a clay bust of the Earl, the latter now situated over the main Castle door. The work was to be completed by 1st June, 1686. Two of the statues of King Charles II and King James II have disappeared.
