Details Remains of an observatory. It was built in 1774 by James MacKenzie, the Lord Privy Seal. It is over 13m high and its walls are 1m thick. It has three stories and crenellations. The top two of the three stories have had their windows infilled. The ruin is surrounded by a low grass bank of quadrangular shape, which is possibly recent and is unrelated to the fort.
