Details The possible remains of a cairn underlie the old trig station on Castle Hill. It consists of a stony mound about 7 m in diameter and 1.5 m high. An amorphous mound, with an average height of 0.8 m, consists of small stones build up against an outcropping rock. It has been mutilated by tree stump removal (this area was formerly heavily wooded). There was a buried trig at this point (OS 25 inch County Series) but it is not clear to what extent its construction and subsequent removal has disturbed the mound. It is not therefore possible to identify this feature as a burial mound.
