Remains of a Ring-Cairn. The disturbed remains of a cairn are situated on the high point of a hillock in the former Meams Wood. It consists of a 10 m diameter circle of eighteen earthfast boulders, the largest being 1.5 m long and 0.6 m high, with the remains of a probable second circle within. The latter circle is an arc of eight smaller earthfast boulders, up to 0.5m high, with a diameter of circa 4.57 m. The interior appears to be covered with a layer of very small stones. In 1967 two trenches were dug 'diametrically through the site' by GFC Laird. There were no finds other than small quantities of clay which may have been used for walling or roofing. The 1977 survey by the OS did not identify the excavation trenches and spoil, but recorded evidence of other disturbance probably caused during tree-removal in the area.
