Area of building footings, rigs and earthbank enclosures. Nothing depicted in this area on the 1st or 2nd edition OS maps, but the remains of a rectangular building are shown on the current edition (2006). Survey by GUARD in 1999 recorded a complex of structures. (a) A sub-rectangular structure, measuring 12m by 3m, defined by turf-covered stony banks 1m wide and up to 0.4m high. It is divided into two compartments of roughly equal size. The banks on the lower slope appear reveted. (b) Attached to the structure is an enclosure, probably a yard, 11m by with turf-covered stony banks 1m wide and up to 0.3m high, enclosing an area 11m by 8m. (c) east of the building are about six rigs, circa 3m wide, running down the slope of the hill. Walkover survey was carried out by GUARD Archaeology in 2021 ahead of proposed woodland creation (NO36SE0079). The rig and furrow was mostly visible but obscured in places by trees and vegetation. Subsequent measured survey noted an area of rig and furrow extending into NO36SE0009, the remains defined more by the furrows than upstanding rigs.
